Welcome

The Student National Medical Association is one of the oldest and largest minority medical student organizations in the country. This organization is committed to increasing the number of culturally capable and sensitive physicians equipped to serve people of color and under-served communities.

SNMA was founded at Howard University College of Medicine and Meherry Medical College on the principles of community service, cultural enrichment, and diversity in the medical community. SNMA programs are designed to serve the health needs of underserved communities and communities of color. In addition, SNMA is dedicated both to ensuring that medical education and services are culturally sensitive to the needs of diverse populations and to increasing the number of African-American, Latino, and other students of color and entering and completing medical school.

VCOM SNMA holds true to all the founding principles of the SNMA.  Our members work hard to address disparities in health care, minority medical education, and the needs and progression of medically underserved areas. It is our goal that all Minority students involved in SNMA will enter their respective medical profession with all the necessary tools needed to be successful physicians!
